Our History
The construction industry accounts directly or indirectly for almost 40 percent of global CO₂ emissions while representing one of the lowest levels of digitalization. A transformational change is expected as decarbonization and sustainability focus is shifting rapidly toward the construction ecosystem. TERNA was founded based on the conviction that our technology can play an important role in this transformation.
With broad experience from construction, machine control R&D and scaling technology companies the founders of TERNA are committed to accelerate adoption of smart technologies on heavy machinery to increase uptime and reduce environmental impact.

David Giertz
Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board
David is an experienced entrepreneur with a proven track record of building and scaling successful businesses. He founded DGC AB, a Swedish IT network and operations company that grew to become a market leader in Scandinavia. DGC was listed on Nasdaq Stockholm in 2010 and was later acquired by the Nordic private equity firm EQT in 2017, after which it was de-listed.
In 2017, David founded Resona, a holding company overseeing a diverse portfolio of businesses. These include real estate development, property management, construction, installation services, and technology development, reflecting his broad expertise in founding and growing enterprises across multiple industries.
Dag Sjöqvist
Co-Founder and CEO
Dag is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in scaling global businesses. As Chief Operating Officer of Syncron Group, a leading SaaS provider of after-sales service solutions for some of the world's most recognized manufacturers of construction equipment, Dag was instrumental in growing the company into a global leader with operations in more than ten countries.
Before joining Syncron, Dag served as Group Vice President of Strategy and Ventures at ABB Ltd in Zurich, driving strategic initiatives and leading M&A projects.
Johan Gustafsson
Co-Founder and CPTO
With a background in researching machine control systems in collaboration with companies such as Volvo Construction Equipment early in his career, Johan has spent several years developing the technology that forms the foundation of TERNA’s services. His expertise and dep technical knowledge have been pivotal in driving innovation and advancing the capabilities of TERNA's technology.
Johan holds a Master of Science degree in Systems, Controls, and Mechatronics from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. His master’s thesis, titled 'Orientation Estimation of a Rigid Multi-Body System Using Accelerometers, Gyroscopes, and Geometry,' highlights his domain knowledge.
Erik Lindholm
Non-Executive Director and Senior Advisor
Erik brings over two decades of experience from Syncron Group, where he began his career as a software developer and steadily rose through the ranks to hold senior leadership roles, including Vice President of Product Strategy and Vice President of Product Management. In these positions, Erik worked closely with some of the world’s largest OEMs, gaining a unique combination of commercial and technical skills that shaped Syncron’s product strategy and advanced its product portfolio to a market-leading position.
Erik’s career began as a trainee at ABB, and he holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering Physics from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
